Why Support Sober Grad Night?
Sober Grad Night events are held for thousands of graduating seniors each year. They offer students a safe, sober, supervised, and fun place to celebrate their high school graduation with their friends.
We would like to share some statistics with you, obtained from the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.) website, U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) data.
In California in 2020, there were 1,143 fatalities and 16,364 injuries due to drinking and driving. 1
Teen alcohol use kills 4,300 people each year – that’s more than all illegal drugs combined. 2
With annual events (like proms and graduation parties), the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day has been labeled “The 100 Deadliest Days” for teen drivers.3
Mile for mile, teenagers are involved in three times as many fatal crashes as all other drivers. 4
12 million people reporting that they have consumed alcohol at least once before their 21st birthday 5
Statistics have shown that students celebrating on the evening of graduation can experience one of the most dangerous nights of their young lives. Our goal is to save lives by providing a safe and sober graduation night celebration.
